A lot of the time we might say to ourselves, “When this happens, I’ll be happy”, implying it’s something that we’re expecting, wanting or anticipating happening *to* us.
And there’s nothing unusual or strange about this, a lot of the time we do tend to invest our happiness in future events rather than what’s happening now. That’s quite an important point actually – we talk about “one day” and “when this happens”.. but What are we doing right NOW to take steps towards making that happiness happen? What do we have right now that invokes positivity? What’s within our control to change as of this moment so we can all feel bit happier?
This will be different things for different people, but the point is if we start we can begin to feel happier this moment by making a change rather than waiting for our “one day”.
