Yesterday, 20th September, was national fitness day! On the one hand, I could write a post about the benefits of fitness, and how we can improve ours even just by a little bit. But that’s only for one day, so why not do something a bit more meaningful, personal and hopefully inspiring to others?
So for this one, I’m going to commit to taking part in 30 days of fitness. That’s right – for the next 30 days I’m going to incorporate one bit of meaningful movement or exercise into my day and keep a record of it. I’ll be updating my blog weekly, but posting daily on social media.
Now I’m a bit nervous about this, because one, I’m putting my money where my mouth is and showing how the behaviour change techniques I work on with others actually impact myself too. And secondly, I have an ongoing chronic stomach condition where my stomach can – with no definite trigger or cause- cramp and swell which as I’m sure you can imagine is incredibly uncomfortable! This in itself can make me feel like I *don’t* want to undertake any extra or unnecessary physical activity, but my GP assures me I will come to no harm so I’m going to do this in spite of my condition.
To keep me inspired, I’m reading “The Intrinsic Exerciser” by Jay Kimiecik which will allegedly help me reach my own motivation to exercise.
You may also be wondering why I’m posting about it today instead of yesterday? The reason is I started my fitness journey today by literally going for a walk.
On purpose, when I could have driven.
It’s about me committing to an activity each day to improve my overall fitness, tone and wellbeing. Wish me luck!
